In 2007, two young trekking enthusiasts decided to get together and start the first Lefeu Outdoors Store in Beijing. The two have little in common but own similar nicknames: T5 and T9. T5 is passionate in exploring and developing new gears since 2003. T9 is more interested in online marketing and running outdoor events. T5 is a good swimmer, an intense ice climber and a long-time professional photographer, but T9 is a good soccer player, a zealous snowboarder and a veteran in journalism.

　　The reason of their decision is simple. At the time of 2007, more and more friends around began to experience an outdoor lifestyle but they complained to the two trekking enthusiasts: it was too hard for them as beginners to choose the appropriate apparel and equipments. Some foreign brands sounded nice and a little familiar, but the price was too high to accept. Some stores even pushed the price higher. They also hesitated to try local brands. Why not help the many others that share the same dream in nature? T5 and T9 agreed to each other.

　　Soon thereafter, the Lefeu Outdoors Store became known as a retailer of smart advice service and affordable but high-performance climbing and backpacking equipments throughout Beijing thanks to the online store. In 2008, Lefeu Outdoors began designing and manufacturing its own brand of technical mountaineering equipments including cooking equipments, sleeping bags and sleeping pads. One year later, Lefeu Outdoors expanded their own product lines to backpacks, trekking poles and more.

　　Since 2008, Lefeu Outdoors has been cherished a following amongst avid outdoors fans and began sponsoring outdoor events and expeditions to some of the extremely villainous environment. In the summer of 2009, the Lefeu Climbing Team of China Agricultural University successfully climbed to the top of Jangsang Lhamo with an altitude of 6325 meters.

　　Lefeu Outdoors stands as an English name for Hong Huo Chai, which means Red Match in Chinese. Lefeu originates from the French word feu that means fire. The Chinese name originates from the importance of match, which is used to set fire, in human being’s outdoor life. The two founders like to refer the name to Chairman Mao's famous saying "A little spark sets the prairie ablaze". They are ambitious to become the favorite outdoor retailer in China.
